The Emotional Girl
Monday 30th August, 2010 - 11:09am

I have a problem when I watch films. I cry.

I cry at nearly every film I watch, whether it’s happy or sad. I don’t know why but I’ve been like this for years. I just become such an emotional wreck when I watch films.

I started to notice it when I cried at the end of Free Willy. I know, it’s not even a sad ending, it’s happy. But I watched it a few years ago and broke down in tears at the end. At first I thought it was just whales. Why? Because a few years before that a Bottlenose Whale got stuck in the Thames river in London. They tried to rescues it by putting it on a boat and taking it out to sea. It didn’t survive and I cried my eyes out. My mum had to sit with me and comfort me.

But it wasn’t just whales. If I know a film has a sad ending, I have to switch it off. The ending to A Series Of Unfortunate Events makes me sad so when I watch the DVD I have to stop it before the sad bit. I haven’t watched barely any Disney films because the characters make me all emotional. I have never watched Bambi or The Lion King because I know I will cry. It’s terrible really, these are 2 amazing films, apparently.

Phoenix Nights is my all time favorite comedy but there is a certain episode I can’t watch because it makes me sad.

Tyrone had to comfort me when we went to see Toy Story 3 and I cried. After we both thought it was hilarious how upset I had got over some toys. I cried watching I Am Legend, Brokeback Mountain and The Day After Tomorrow.

In English we studies Of Mice and Men. I was told it was a sad ending so before we watched the film in class I watched the ending on YouTube so I could cry at home and not in class. I did this to avoid embarresment.

Is it a problem or am I just a really sensitive person? I’m sure my friends must find it a pain when they suggest we watch a particular film and I always ask “Is it going to make me cry?”.

Are there any films that make you cry?
